Day Eight: Mark Making Cards
We have made it to Day Eight of the Holiday Giveaways! Today’s freebie is a set of mark making cards. This is for your prewriting youngsters. Before young children can form letters and numbers they have to be able to make various lines and curves. This set features simple lines, X’s, curves, and simple shapes. There are more advanced zigzags, spirals and loops included as well.
Ideas on how to use the cards:
Laminate them and use a dry erase marker to trace the models.
Access the cards along with a sensory tray to practice forming the models. (Pictured here is a dyed sugar tray with the cards)
Place the cards with paper and various writing utensils. Transfer the marks onto the paper.
Use shaving cream on the sides of the bathtub to “paint the marks.”
I hope these cards get lots of use in your home or classroom. Be sure to let me know how it goes. Tag Play Beyond the Lines in your play or share your wins in the comments here.
