DIY Light Box

I have seen several DIY Light Box tutorials and knew we had to try one out. We are so excited for all of the play and learning we can create with this. We ended up using the light box inspired from play.inspire.grow on Instagram because of their results and the simplicity of the set up. I don’t know why I went into this project thinking it would be more difficult than it was. After gathering the materials, it took about 10 minutes to put together!

Materials:

  • Plastic Tub with a clear flat lid- I purchased a 20 quart

  • Aluminum Foil

  • Wax Paper

  • Battery Powered Light Source

  • Batteries (for light source)

  • Tape

Begin by lining the bottom and sides of the clear tub with aluminum foil. Tape the foil to hold it in place. Line the inside of the lid with wax paper and tape it to hold. Load the light source with batteries, turn on, and place it on the bottom of the tub. Replace the lid and you are set to play.

We are excited to incorporate the light box in a variety of ways. We began by playing with our bugs (the little one is loving all things bugs right now) and a few random manipulatives the kids brought down. We will be sure to share other ways to utilize the light box as we try them out.

What else should we try with the light box? Put your suggestions in the comments below or tag us in your play on Instagram, @playbeyondthelines!
